Job Description

Position Overview

Support is required for a comprehensive IT infrastructure migration project following a business unit acquisition. A new company must rebuild its entire IT infrastructure within one year, migrating away from legacy IT services, particularly the NetApp environment.

Project Context

The organization's Business Unit was recently sold, creating a new company that needs to establish a complete IT infrastructure from scratch. The primary objective is to migrate from the current NetApp environment to a new cloud-based setup while maintaining service continuity and data integrity.

Current Technical Environment

• NetApp Cloud Volumes Ontap (CVO) on Azure Western Europe (primarily for development)
• On-premise NetApp infrastructure in Paris (clusters FAS8200, FAS8060, FAS8020, primarily for backup and Spark servers)
• Target migration to new CVO environment in new Azure tenant
• Gradual reduction of on-premise footprint planned

Key Technical Challenges

• Domain migration (attaching NetApp SVMs to the new domain)
• Data migration using SnapMirror from source CVO to target CVO
• Maintaining NIS/Name Mapping compatibility, which is critical for permissions and data access
• Performance issues due to latency and firewalls between AVS and CVO in Azure, identified in previous migrations
• Replacement of end-of-support on-premise NetApp hardware

Project Timeline

• April: Azure IAM setup
• June-July: Domain migration
• Mid-July to September: Azure AVS and CVO deployment
• Mid-September to December: Data migration
• Gradual reduction of on-premise datacenter with eventual DC-exit

Required Support & Expertise

• Support for drafting the high-level design (HLD), including volumetrics, functional needs, interactions, and timeline
• Interim NetApp contractor with NIS/Name Mapping expertise, pending internal recruitment
• Technical workshop facilitation with Fujitsu/NetApp to co-build requirements, with advance preparation of questions
• Clarification on NetApp CVO Private Offer billing (via Microsoft or Fujitsu)
