Solution Architect - Retail (Cloud) - Freelance

Context

We are seeking a seasoned Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions within a leading retail and sender domain. This role bridges the gap between business vision and technical execution, ensuring architectural consistency, system quality, and alignment with strategic transformation goals.

Working across cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), modern backend frameworks (e.g., Java, Node.js), retail applications, and partner ecosystems, the ideal candidate will guide teams in delivering robust, integrated, and future-ready solutions. The architect will drive best practices, mentor development teams, and ensure solutions align with security, compliance, and architecture standards.

Missions

• Design scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions supporting retail operations, customer journeys, and omnichannel services.
• Design a digital customer channel for B2B and B2C customers (front and back end) through successive MVPs with the ambition to create a group asset.
• Help identify optimizations and innovations across initiatives such as self-service harmonization, remote assistance, and AI-enabled retail experiences.
• Develop architectural standards, design patterns, and governance models aligned with enterprise and retail strategy.
• Support application development teams with high-level solution design and technical direction.
• Review architecture and technical designs to ensure performance, resilience, scalability, and usability in retail environments.
• Advise on trade-offs and architectural decisions throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Guide development teams during build and implementation phases.
• Support issue resolution and performance tuning across platforms and components.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, high availability, and security architecture planning.
• Work closely with business, product, and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into architectural solutions.
• Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to integrate CI/CD practices and infrastructure automation.
• Facilitate architecture reviews, design workshops, and cross-functional discussions.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their relevance to enterprise goals.
• Champion the adoption of modern architecture practices including microservices, API-first design, and cloud-native principles.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, mentorship, and continuous improvement initiatives.
