Data Engineer – Azure / Azure Synapse Environment

Location: Brussels

We are looking for skilled Data Engineers with to strengthen our data platform teams and

accelerate several strategic initiatives across our Azure-based analytical data landscape. Our

environment has a strong focus on Azure Synapse Analytics, with a delta lakehouse underneath

on Azure Data Lake Storage.

Successful candidates will play a key role in stabilizing, optimizing, and extending our data

ecosystem while ensuring regulatory compliance and high data quality across the organization.

Your Day to Day activities include

• building and maintaining data flows

You will work on complex data integration and standardization tracks:

o extend data models (3NF/Kimball) for the integration and data product layer of

the platform

o performing source to target mappings between the layers of the platform

o implementing data pipelines to build out the integration and data mart layer of

the platform

o Contribute to end-to-end solution design for new data products and platform

components

o Translate business requirements into scalable, secure Azure data solutions

• ensuring platform operational excellence

You will help increase the robustness and reliability of our data platform by:

o enhancing platform-wide data quality and consistency

o reducing operational costs of the E2E platform via FinOps

o ensuring compliance via the contributions to the implementation of security on

the storage layer via Access Control Lists, implementation of right to be forgotten and data masking as well as data retention and archiving policies

o improving and optimizing operational processes in the onboarding and designing of ETL flows

Your Technical Environment

• You will work in a modern, cloud-based data environment built on:

o Azure Synapse Analytics

o PySpark and SparkSQL (Spark 3.5/4.X) experience

o Azure Synapse Pipelines

o Azure Data Lake Storage

o Azure DevOps (CI/CD)

o OpenLineage

Nice to Have

• Experience with financial institutions, risk reporting, or regulatory frameworks

(BCBS239, BIRD, GDPR)

• An openness to expanding the workload to include analysis performed with an ‘analytics

engineer’ mindset.

• Strong softskills and a collaborative mindset

• A make-it-happen attitude

• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Services and Python development
