Our client, a scale-up company in e-commerce industry is looking for a Senior backend Software Engineer on Python and FastAPI environment.

Team Composition

The squad is made up of 6 engineers (4 backend, 2 frontend), an Engineering Manager, and a

Product Manager. The team is distributed across France, with a core group based in Paris and

others working remotely from other French cities.

English is the working language.

As the freelancer joining the team, you'll be embedded within the backend engineers and work

closely with the full squad.

Your mission:

As a freelance Senior Backend Engineer, you'll contribute to both product and technical

initiatives:

• Building on top of a freshly deployed Care 2.0 platform - now that the rollout is complete,

  we shift from shipping must-have features to iterating and improving customer satisfaction.
  Concretely: sunsetting legacy Care 1.0 features we no longer need, and integrating Intercom-native capabilities (such as FinAI) to take the customer experience further.

• Shaping the Care architecture for the long term - we have built a technical backlog by

  identifying the architectural changes needed to give other squads more

  autonomy in managing their own care needs. You'll contribute to tackling that backlog,

  making our platform a stronger foundation for the whole organisation.

• Technical platform initiatives - such as our Shuttle migration, where we are modernising

  our event-based stack to build a more robust and scalable foundation.

What We're Looking For

You operate at Senior Engineer I level (IC3): you own large projects end-to-end, lead

architectural decisions within the squad, and raise the bar for engineering quality around you.

Hard skills

• Strong Python backend experience, including async Python (FastAPI)

• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery

• Solid understanding of distributed systems, API design, and event-driven architecture

  (Kafka, RabbitMQ)

• Experience with observability tooling: Datadog, Grafana, OpenTelemetry

• Comfortable in a Kubernetes / ArgoCD / GCP / Docker / CircleCI environment
