NOC engineer - Freelance

Context of the mission

The network team is responsible for the setup, security and operations of the network used for a wide range of services in both industrial and office contexts. The team relies on a broad set of tools and technologies and is active in several European countries (Belgium, France, UK, Germany and Switzerland).

The team is involved in many projects, such as:
- Setting up connectivity in new data centres
- Securing and connecting to the cloud
- Modernizing the WAN network
- Supporting functional evolutions requested by application teams

In this context, the company is looking for motivated people to help contribute to the realization of these challenges.

Timing and place

- Place of mission: company headquarters in Brussels
- Start date: as soon as possible
- Initial duration: 1 year (renewable)
- Work regime:
- First three months: full-time on-site in the office
- After the initial period: hybrid work possible, with 3 days on-premises and 2 days to choose (under the condition that work permits it)

Function description

Within the network team, the consultant will:
- Operate in a team supporting company activities which run 24/7
- Work in both IT and OT environments and therefore be very diligent in preparing and executing changes
- Participate in the deployment and maintenance of OT and IT systems
- Be involved in the day-to-day operations of the team
- Analyse and resolve incidents and technical problems
- Provide support to colleagues in Belgium and other parts of Europe

General skills and profile

- Mastery of one of the national languages (Dutch or French) and fluency in English
- Willingness to work closely with other ICT teams
- Team player attitude combined with the ability to work independently
- Possession of a personal car
- Ability to travel when required to various locations within Belgium
- Already had a first relevant working experience

Technical skills

- Operational firewall knowledge (Palo Alto and Checkpoint)
- Basic understanding of routing and switching (CCNA level)
- Familiarity with Cisco CLI
- Experience working with Python
- Experience using backend tools for:
- Monitoring
- Network Access Control (NAC)
- Central syslog
- Authentication
- Any OT experience is considered a plus
- A background in computer science will be looked upon favorably
