About the Role

Scaleway is expanding its Dedibox Compute Foundation team to modernize and scale legacy backend systems while ensuring production excellence. You will maintain and progressively evolve a Symfony-based legacy application, transitioning it toward modular, service-oriented architectures to enhance performance, resilience, and long-term scalability in a high-availability production environment.

Your Team & Work Environment

• Collaborative and international team of 6 DevOps Engineers, supported by an Engineering Manager, Product team, and SRE team.
• Operates in an agile framework with strong technical autonomy.
• Works closely with hardware, support, billing, and infrastructure teams.
• Recently restructured into a tribe model to tackle modernization challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development & Maintenance
• Develop and maintain backend features using Symfony (PHP 7+).
• Ensure production-grade maintenance (MCO) and incident resolution in high-availability environments.
• Legacy Modernization
• Progressively refactor a monolithic Symfony application into modular/microservices architectures.
• Improve performance, resilience, and scalability.
• DevOps & CI/CD
• Manage deployments via GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Work with Docker and DevOps tooling in distributed environments.
• Collaboration & On-Call
• Partner with SRE, hardware, support, and billing teams.
• Participate in on-call rotations after onboarding.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills (Hard Skills)

• Bare Metal & Linux:
• Experience configuring and managing virtual and dedicated servers.
• Backend & Symfony:
• 5+ years of production experience with Symfony (PHP 7+).
• Strong expertise in legacy application maintenance and evolution.
• DevOps & CI/CD:
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Git, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Distributed Systems:
• Solid knowledge of Linux server environments.
