Data Architect - Freelance

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to join a strategic data transformation project in Brussels.

The role involves contributing to the design and implementation of a modern Azure Data Architecture, supporting digital twin initiatives, and helping industrialize the data platform through CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the implementation of a Data Architecture on Azure.

• Contribute to a Digital Twin project focused on urban data and environmental analysis.

• Support the hands-on implementation of CI/CD around the Azure Data platform.

• Define and implement end-to-end data architecture standards.

• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners and business stakeholders.

• Contribute to architecture reviews, technical standards, documentation and knowledge transfer.

  Technical Assessment

  Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience with topics such as:

  • Designing and delivering a production Lakehouse on Azure Databricks, including governance through Unity Catalog and Microsoft Purview.

  • Deploying Azure data/AI platforms through Terraform or equivalent IaC, integrated with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

  • Designing real-time ingestion architectures for IoT sensors and geospatial data.

  • Implementing and industrializing AI/ML and MLOps within a data platform.

  • Evolving production data models and managing high-risk migrations while maintaining service continuity.

  • Designing an end-to-end Azure data platform, from ingestion through processing to reporting and Power BI.

  • Designing the complete data chain from field sensors to a Digital Twin, including heterogeneous IoT, geospatial, BIM and open-data sources.

  • Implementing secure and industrialized platform lifecycle management, including landing zones, environment segregation, private execution environments, secrets and policies.

  • Acting as a Data Architect between internal teams, external partners and business stakeholders, while ensuring standards, architecture governance and knowledge transfer.
