Freelance Azure Platform Engineer / Cloud Engineer (Only for Belgium based) - Freelance

We are looking for an experienced Azure Platform Engineer to join a centralized Cloud Platforms team within a leading global pharmaceutical organization.

In this position, you will play a key role in the development, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise cloud platform capabilities. You will help enable application, data, and AI teams by providing secure, scalable, and automated cloud foundations while supporting the onboarding of workloads onto the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Develop and improve cloud platform capabilities and automation frameworks

• Deploy, operate, and support Kubernetes environments, primarily AKS

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitHub-based deployment workflows

• Troubleshoot platform-related issues and support application, data, and AI teams

• Collaborate with architects, developers, cloud platform engineers, and external partners

• Contribute to cloud security, governance, and operational excellence initiatives

• Ensure cloud solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, and compliant

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure

• Hands-on expertise with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code

• Good experience with Kubernetes, ideally Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

• Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and GitHub

• Experience with Azure networking concepts:

  • VNets

  • DNS

  • Private Endpoints

  • Load Balancers

  • NSGs

  • Azure Firewalls

• Knowledge of cloud security, identity management, and governance principles

• Experience in cloud platform engineering and automation

Nice to Have

• Strong Linux administration experience

• Exposure to data platforms, AI/ML platforms, or related workloads

• Experience working in large enterprise environments

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant cloud/platform engineering experience

• Ideally 5+ years of hands-on experience in Azure Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or DevOps Engineering

• Able to work independently within a mature platform engineering environment

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities

• Fluent in English
