Java Solution Architect - Freelance

We are looking for an experienced Java Solution Architect to support one of Belgium’s leading financial institutions in the design and evolution of its digital banking platforms. You will play a key role in defining the technical architecture of mission-critical applications, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, Enterprise Architects, Product Owners, and development teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and guide engineering teams throughout implementation.

Missions

• Design end-to-end solution architectures for complex Java-based banking applications.

• Define application architectures aligned with business objectives, security requirements, regulatory constraints, and enterprise standards.

• Produce high-level and detailed solution designs, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation.

• Guide Agile development teams on architectural best practices and technical implementation.

• Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture principles and technology standards.

• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to define target architectures and technology roadmaps.

• Review application designs, code quality, and non-functional requirements including performance, security, availability, and maintainability.

• Drive modernization initiatives involving cloud adoption, API-first architecture, microservices, and event-driven solutions.

• Participate in architecture governance, design reviews, and technical decision-making processes.

• Identify technical risks and define mitigation strategies throughout project delivery.

• Mentor senior developers and technical leads on architecture and engineering best practices.
