Progress OpenEdge / ABL Developer (Gent, Hybrid) - Freelance

A well-established provider of HR and business services is looking for an experienced Progress OpenEdge developer to help maintain, modernize and extend its business-critical applications. You will work in a hybrid environment that combines classic ABL development with modern, API-driven architectures (PASOE), alongside analysts, project managers and end users in a team of fellow Progress experts.

In a typical week, you develop and maintain applications in ABL, design and optimize database access on OpenEdge, and build and expose APIs via OpenEdge Studio. You also analyze and improve performance — queries, locking and transactions — and handle integrations with internal and external systems.

This is a hands-on, business-critical role where your expertise directly shapes the applications the organization relies on every day, with the chance to bridge a robust legacy stack and a modern API landscape.

The assignment is open to both freelancers and candidates seeking a permanent contract, depending on your profile and preference.
