Senior Developer Python - AI Platform - Freelance

Context

The role is within the ITO AI Platform team, the core engineering engine driving the next generation of Artificial Intelligence in a leading corporate and investment banking institution. The team is currently establishing the Agentic Project Center of Excellence (CoE), aiming to build an advanced ecosystem of autonomous, reasoning agents capable of managing complex financial workflows. The focus is on architecting a high-performance, scalable, and resilient infrastructure that enables Large Language Models (LLMs) and multi-agent systems to interact with enterprise data and tools.

Missions

• Design and implement backend architecture for autonomous agents using advanced orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, Google ADK, and CrewAI.
• Develop and standardize agentic interfaces using FastMCP (Model Context Protocol) to enable seamless tool usage and data retrieval for LLMs.
• Architect and maintain high-performance, asynchronous microservices in Python (and Java) to handle complex reasoning loops and long-running agentic tasks.
• Implement event-driven communication patterns using messaging systems to manage state transitions and data flows across multi-agent systems.
• Lead containerization and orchestration of AI services using Docker and Kubernetes to ensure high availability and low latency.
• Drive engineering rigor by implementing automated testing (including BDD/Cucumber), maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/BitBucket), and optimizing deployment.
• Act as a technical bridge between Data Science and Core Engineering, translating agentic research into scalable, maintainable backend code.

Tools & Environment

• Programming languages: Python (expertise in asynchronous programming and type hinting), Java, Rust or C++ (preferred)
• Agentic orchestration frameworks: LangGraph, CrewAI, Google ADK; familiarity with AutoGen, LangChain is a plus
• AI connectivity protocols: FastMCP (Model Context Protocol); Semantic Kernel, LlamaIndex (preferred)
• Architecture: Event-driven design (Kafka, message queues), RESTful APIs, distributed systems design patterns
• Data & messaging: SQL (PostgreSQL), message-oriented middleware; vector databases such as Milvus, Pinecone, Weaviate (preferred)
• DevOps & cloud: Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Artifactory; Google Cloud Platform (GCP) / Vertex AI (preferred)
• Testing/QA: Automated testing frameworks, Cucumber/BDD; performance/load testing for LLM latency

Additional Notes on Java Experience

• The CoE develops reusable components across different technologies.
