Senior Functional Data Architect - Freelance

Context

A leading industrial group’s Data Governance department is seeking a Senior Data Architect to contribute to an ambitious program aimed at leveraging the power of data to positively impact solutions. The architect will support functional data architecture best practices on Analytics, AI, and Master Data Management use cases, with a particular focus on IT data (Specification, Data, Application, Project, ITSM, Infra...). The role involves collaboration with various stakeholder communities such as business experts, technical architects, data engineers/developers, and data scientists.

The architect must ensure optimal data structuring of data platforms with a mid- to long-term vision. Business teams need to act on data, using simple requests or advanced data & analytics capabilities, to achieve data-driven objectives.

Missions

• Understand the high-level business processes and data architecture of the information system across business units: ERPs, CRMs, PIMs, MDMs, IT and other main business applications, and BI/Reporting/AI data platforms. Contribute to enhancing the corresponding enterprise ontologies and data model (main data entities and their semantic relations), working closely with business data experts, data governance managers, and enterprise/solution/technical architects. Map existing assets in the Data Platforms (especially the Corporate one) to prioritize their standardization based on business priorities to facilitate data consumption.

• Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating present and potential functional needs to offer self-service capabilities through consistent aggregation/consolidation, normalization/denormalization, rationalization, and data quality management implementation, working closely with technical architects and data product managers.

• Define how MDM streams should be positioned within the information system landscape across functional domains and business units to enable business processes with the right data quality.

• Model standardized and reusable datasets to enable easy consumption (via the Data Marketplace) with trust, for various purposes, working closely with Business teams, Data Councils, Data Governance experts, and other Data & Analytics team members. Document key business processes producing and consuming data in BPMN. Manage metadata to ensure shared information about data coverage and business freshness for each dataset.

• Apply the Group Data Governance framework, especially the Data Architecture policy that defines rules to build standardized and reusable datasets and other modeling best practices. Ensure data risk management policies are well applied: data classification (Confidentiality, Privacy & other compliance topics), access policies, access management, and data retention.

• Guide business data experts and IT teams on how and where to implement data quality controls on data structures based on business data quality requirements.

• Assess logical datasets and their implementations to certify compliance with the Group framework.

• Use AI effectively to accelerate delivery and improve efficiency.
