System Engineer - Infrastructure & Virtualisation - Freelance

Daily rate: Freelance or Permanent contract

Context

A Brussels-based banking player operates a hybrid infrastructure running Nutanix and VMware side by side, with strong requirements around service continuity and backup.

The role sits within an infrastructure team. This is not a single-product specialist position: the successful candidate works across the full chain from virtualisation to monitoring, including backup and server-side security.

Missions

• Administer, monitor and evolve the Nutanix and VMware ESXi environments

• Manage Windows Server and Active Directory administration

• Manage storage and associated capacity

• Keep production and non-production environments up to date

• Run daily backups through Veeam and verify restorability

• Take an active part in Disaster Recovery (DRP) and Business Continuity plans, including periodic testing

• Diagnose and resolve level 2/3 system and network incidents

• Monitor environment performance (PRTG, Dynatrace)

• Handle change requests on business-critical applications

• Document procedures and share knowledge within the team

• Contribute to infrastructure projects: migrations, decommissioning, upgrades

• Define needs, actions and technical prerequisites per project

• Liaise with business users, other IT teams and suppliers
