Interim Technology Delivery & Transformation Lead - Freelance

Context

An interim assignment of 6 months is available for an experienced technology leader to support the BeNe Last Mile organization. The role reports functionally to the Group CDO and operationally to the Managing Director of BeNe Last Mile. The focus is on strengthening technology leadership effectiveness, improving delivery predictability, and enhancing budget efficiency across the Technology organization.

The assignment aims to stabilize and improve delivery performance, strengthen accountability within the leadership team, increase transparency towards business stakeholders, and ensure optimal use of technology investments. This role is intended to accelerate operational effectiveness and establish a strong foundation for sustainable performance improvement, rather than defining long-term technology strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Develop and strengthen the Technology Leadership Team

   • Coach and support the team in driving accountability, ownership, and execution excellence.
   • Clarify roles, responsibilities, and decision-making authority.
   • Improve collaboration between technology, operations, and business functions.
   • Identify leadership, organizational, and capability gaps and define improvement actions.
   • Foster a culture of performance, ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.

2. Improve delivery predictability and execution

   • Assess current delivery practices, governance, planning, and portfolio management.
   • Establish and monitor delivery performance indicators and reporting.
   • Improve planning accuracy, capacity management, and delivery forecasting.
   • Reduce delivery risks, delays, and execution bottlenecks.
   • Strengthen portfolio governance and prioritization.
   • Ensure greater transparency on progress, dependencies, risks, and business outcomes.

3. Drive budget efficiency and financial discipline

   • Review the current Technology budget, cost structure, and resource allocation.
   • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency gains.
   • Strengthen budget governance, forecasting, and financial performance management.
   • Support value-based prioritization of investments and initiatives.
   • Implement actions to improve cost efficiency while maintaining service quality and delivery commitments.

4. Increase organizational effectiveness

   • Evaluate the effectiveness of the current operating model and governance structures.
   • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, decision-making, and escalation paths.
   • Improve cross-functional collaboration between Technology, Operations, and Group functions.
   • Ensure stronger focus on business value, execution discipline, and measurable outcomes.

5. Executive stakeholder management

   • Act as trusted advisor to the BeNe Last Mile Management Team on technology delivery and organizational effectiveness.
   • Provide regular executive reporting on delivery performance, budget efficiency, risks, and improvement initiatives.
   • Facilitate alignment between Technology leadership, Business stakeholders, and Group Digital & Technology functions.
   • Support decision-making through clear, fact-based recommendations and performance insights.

Candidate Profile

• 15+ years of experience in senior Technology, IT, or Digital leadership roles.
• Proven track record in improving delivery performance within complex operational environments.
• Strong experience leading technology transformations and organizational performance improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated success in developing senior leadership teams.
• Strong financial management, vendor management, and cost optimization experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills at executive level.
• Fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
