Description de la mission
The Functional Architect for Enlarged Europe acts as a transversal functional reference for the region, connecting business needs, domain roadmaps and IT delivery constraints into a consistent, pragmatic and user-oriented architecture vision.
The role covers the end-to-end landscape across Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Parts & Services, Corporate Functions, Manufacturing and Engineering. It aims to ensure functional consistency between domains, avoid local optimizations that create cross-domain complexity, and support scalable solutions for the region.
Main mission
Define, challenge and secure the functional architecture coherence of solutions delivered for Enlarged Europe, making sure that regional priorities are aligned with global target solutions, domain strategies and real operational needs. The functional architect should try to minimise the global ecosystem complexity, trying to work towards a target architecture that should be as simple as possible.
The mission requires a strong balance between the long-term target architecture and short-term business constraints. The Functional Architect is expected to propose pragmatic paths, identify acceptable temporary solutions when needed, and ensure that tactical decisions remain compatible with the target vision. A key objective of this role is to ensure there is minimal delays related to decisions on which solution to take for a given business need.
Key responsibilities
• Act as a transversal functional architecture referent across the Enlarged Europe domain portfolio, ensuring coherence between transversal different domains, like Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Parts & Services, Corporate Functions, Manufacturing and Engineering.
• Translate business needs into functional architecture principles, capabilities, dependencies and solution orientations that can be understood by both business and IT stakeholders.
• Challenge solution options to ensure they are consistent with target architecture, cybersecurity, data, integration and operational constraints, while remaining realistic for delivery teams.
• Identify cross-domain impacts, overlaps, gaps and dependencies early in the demand or project lifecycle, and propose arbitration options when several domains are impacted.
• Ensure the knowledge about business process and technical systems is represented in reusable material that could be used by multiple initiatives, and understood by different audiences from business management to technical experts.
• Support demand qualification, roadmap construction, solution framing and key functional design decisions for strategic or cross-domain initiatives.
• Promote reusable, scalable and harmonized functional patterns, avoiding unnecessary local specificities when they do not create clear business value.
• Contribute to governance rituals and architecture reviews by bringing a regional, end-to-end and business-oriented perspective.
Compétences comportementales
• Good understanding of cross-domain enterprise processes, ideally covering several of the following areas: Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Parts & Services, Corporate Functions, Manufacturing and Engineering.
• Ability to work in a matrix and international environment, with strong facilitation, alignment and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong business proximity and capacity to listen to users, understand operational constraints and convert them into pragmatic solution orientations.
• Ability to find the right balance between target architecture, transformation ambition, short-term needs, budget constraints and delivery feasibility.
• Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain complex functional topics to executive, business and technical audiences.
• Analytical mindset, structured problem-solving approach and capacity to identify dependencies, risks, impacts and arbitration points.
• Fluent English required; French or another European language is a plus.
Compétences Techniques
• Strong functional architecture background, with the ability to structure complex business needs into clear functional capabilities and solution principles.
• Experienced functional architect, business architect, lead functional analyst or senior functional consultant with proven exposure to cross-domain programs.
• Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, from target solution framing to pragmatic delivery support.
